Addressing Regulations with Added Functionality

Recent government regulations mandated energy-saving measures for manufacturers of chest and vertical freezers. The eco-design requirements limit energy usage even when an operator fails to properly turn off the appliance.

Robertshaw® engineers understand the complex freezer systems and other appliances. We worked with customers across the industry to develop both electrical and electromechanical controls that met eco-design standards.

Der Ranco® K58 electromechanical product and the Ranco® E54 electronic control both address this new regulatory concern. In addition to these controls, the Robertshaw team identified the need for added functionality including light indicators, water protection and door sensors to build into future K58 and E54 products.
